FEBRUARY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

🎉 Coming Soon: Topping Out Celebration

Jenkins Middle School is approaching an exciting milestone—the placement of the final structural beam for the new building. This topping-out celebration is tentatively scheduled for February 23 and marks the completion of the building’s structural frame.

Before the beam is lifted into place, students, staff, and community members will have the opportunity to sign it, leaving a lasting mark on a building that will serve generations of Jenkins learners. Additional details will be shared soon.

🏗️ New Building: Going Vertical

Construction on the new building continues to gain momentum. With underground utilities and foundation work complete, structural steel placement is actively underway, and the building is beginning to rise.

What’s happening now:
  • Structural steel placement in progress
  • Slab pouring scheduled for next week
  • Final framing work leading up to the topping-out milestone
What you’ll notice next:

Over the next several weeks, the steel frame of the new building will become increasingly visible as construction continues upward. Families and neighbors are invited to drive by and watch the structure take shape.

📚 Media Center Renovation: Taking Shape

Renovation of the media center is moving forward alongside new construction. Work is currently focused on the mezzanine level, with concrete and framing work coming next.

What’s happening now:
  • Mezzanine decking underway
  • Concrete pouring scheduled for next week
  • Early electrical and technology infrastructure beginning behind the scenes

Students will be touring the space this week to see construction firsthand and begin envisioning how the transformed media center will support collaboration, creativity, and learning. Construction photos show progress in real time, while the rendering offers a preview of the finished space.
